CV cover letters are basically used to reflect the credentials and qualifications of a candidate. It helps in basically creating an outline about the individual; it helps in explaining all that a candidate is looking for, all that a candidate can give to an organization in context with roles, skills and responsibilities. CV cover letters are meant to make the impression of a candidate very proficient and impactful. It should contain all the important detail that makes the recruiter feel like half work done.
There should be certain things kept in mind while designing a cover letter, there should be not more than three paragraphs in a CV cover letter. Each paragraph should contain relevant material to the concern.
The first paragraph should explain why you are writing the letter.
The second paragraph should be explaining, what the candidate is supposed to offer to the organization?
The third paragraph should be the conclusion, concluding of ways to follow up.

This should include all the details needed to contact the candidate, it should have the name, postal address, telephone numbers and email id mentioned in this section. It should be clearly mentioned, so that is does not become difficult for employers to contact the candidate.
Date:
The format for writing date, which should be followed is, mm/dd/yy. For example:-07/23/2011.
About The Opportunity:
This section should include the information of how the candidate got an idea about the opening in the organization. If the candidate has been approached by some specific person, the name of the person should be mentioned.
First Paragraph:
The first paragraph should contain why is the cover letter being written?
If it is being written in context of any reference, it should be mentioned, what the mutual connection through which you got to know about the job opening is?
If it is being written in response to the opening that you came across on internet or any source of communication, do mention the source. Express your interest in the job post, and how efficient you can come up to be for that post.
If the letter is being written to enquire about the openings and/or the job posts available in the organization, mention the job objective and job position you are looking for.
Second Paragraph:
The second paragraph should be about, what the candidate has got to offer the organization?
In this section, the candidate needs to mention the academic qualifications possessed by him/her. The skills and the specific abilities of the candidate should be mentioned here.
The experience held by the candidate should also be mentioned here, in this section.
This section should contain all the good reasons of why an employer should recruit you as an employee.
All your achievements and awards should also be briefly explained here, and add on the trouble-shooting and decision making skills sustained by you.
Third Paragraph:
The third paragraph should be about the conclusion and the different ways to follow up.
In this section, the cover letter needs to be wrapped up in a neat way, writing about how interested and enthusiastic you are about working on that job position. Ensure the employer that that you will use all your skills in your work efficiently, and will give your best.

The conclusion should revolve around your interest for the job, and your eagerness for the appointment and the interview call. The references and mutual contacts also need to be mentioned in the conclusion. The enclosures attached with the cover letter, like resume and photographs etc. should be mentioned in this section only.
CV cover letter is created to make a positive impact of a candidate on the recruiter. It should be designed in a simple yet impressive manner. It should have all the important qualities and skills of the candidate intact in it.
