Sample Academic Application Letter

A letter of application is very important in the academic field. While in school or college, one has to write applications for various reasons such as - to apply for admission to a particular course, to apply for an identity card, to apply for scholarship, etc. The student needs an application for many such reasons. Thus, knowing how to write an application letter is a must for every student. The application letter puts forth the student's request in a formal way, which is documented and stored in the records for further reference. To understand how an academic application letter should be, we have written two sample academic application letters below, catering to two different situations.

Dear Mr. Peterson,

I am Jerry Jame, and I wish to apply for the second year course in Fine Arts. The advertisement in the Florida Daily read that your Art School is accepting applications for this year.

I have completed my first year in Fine Arts from St Josephs Art School, Oklahoma, in the year 2009. After that, I had to quit my studies due to personal reasons, and we had to shift to Florida. Since then, I have been supporting my family. Now that things are stable, I wish to pursue my studies and interest further.

I have attached a photocopy of the passing certificate of my first year, and also a photocopy of Educational Gap Certificate. I have attached all the other necessary documents like -

In this sample letter, we would consider the application of a student who wishes to apply for an identity card. He has lost his card, and thus is requesting for a new card.
