But often outside of the sheltered confinements of the home, they come in contact with different kinds of people and various other things. On the very first day to school, your kid would typically come across new students, new teachers, cafeteria food and many more exciting things. What they do outside, what they eat outside, is all very important to any parent. And if they don't like a teacher's attitude towards their kids or find fault with a particular aspect of the school, they would obviously feel concerned about it and so can write a school complaint letter to the Principal directly. For example, if your child returns home sick and you find out that he/ she is suffering from food poisoning, you will definitely think about the school cafeteria food and its quality. And if according to you, the quality is indeed not up to the mark, you can always write a formal School Complaint Letter to the Principal. Following is an example of such a letter. School Complaint Letter John Melvin 10stOctober,'11 Subject- School complaint letter regarding unhygienic food in the cafeteria Dear Elizabeth, I am the father of Mary Melvin who is studying in your school in 2nd standard, section B, Roll no 28. I am writing to you this morning hoping to express my growing concern over the quality of the school's cafeteria food as I am afraid my daughter and some of her friends have fallen sick after eating it. Mary's class teacher, Mrs. Georgia must have noticed that she was absent from the class yesterday. The reason behind this is food poisoning. Mary has got a stomach infection due to this and so the doctor advised her bed rest for the next two days. The problem came to me and her mom's attention when on Tuesday, a day before yesterday, 8th Oct, '11, Mary came home crying, complaining about severe stomach ache. Both of us were very scared and immediately took her to our family doctor. From the examination, the doctor confirmed to us that it was food poisoning Mary was suffering from. It was an acute case of stomach infection due to the consumption of some stale food item. By the same evening, we got calls from two of Mary's friend's parents who informed us about their children's' similar condition. That morning we all had to attend a community function and so we had given our children pocket money to eat at the cafeteria. Moreover, the kids say that they didn't eat anything else or from anybody else's tiffin. So it is very likely that there was something wrong with the food itself. Mary had eaten noodles from there that day. While now her condition is better as compared to yesterday, we are very concerned about this kind of incident not happening again. As a parent yourself, you can understand exactly how we feel about this entire situation. And that is why we are very confident that you will take all the necessary preventive measures as soon as possible to prevent such an incident from happening again in your school premises. Hoping to hear from you soon Yours Sincerely (Signature) Joseph Brown This is a sample letter written to the school Principal. Remember to introduce yourselves clearly in the beginning. In some specific cases, you may not want to disclose your identity which is okay. But the problem at hand should always be clearly described with as much facts as possible.
