Sample Catholic Confirmation Letter

A Catholic Confirmation Letter is written for a catholic religious ceremony in which a person goes through a series of rituals to accept Christianity. Through this ceremony, the person is accepted as a Christian by the Catholic Church and is bestowed with the new religious responsibilities. Children after their birth are baptized in the church by the priest. But people who have not been baptized yet, write this letter and get baptized in church and are then accepted as a Christian.

A sponsor is needed by such a person and that sponsor needs to be an adult and a regular visitor to the church. He can be a member of the family, a relative or a friend. A sponsor guides the person through the confirmation process. A sponsor writes this letter to the person being baptized, telling him that you respect and support his decision and welcome him into the church.

The important points to be kept in mind while writing this letter are:

  • Start the letter by congratulating the person on getting the confirmation as the person is taking a big step of faith towards God and Christianity.
  • Write about some of the good and positive characteristics of the person that will help him on the path of Christianity. Write about how you appreciate such qualities in him and believe that you are the best candidate for this.
  • State briefly about all your memorable personal experiences you have had with that person. Also write about the spiritual advantages of such an act that you have already experienced.
  • Reiterate the importance of getting this confirmation from the Catholic Church and encourage him to spread the word of God in the society and always do the right thing in life.

These are some of the key points you need to add to your catholic confirmation letter.

Subject- Extending my support to you on your decision of getting baptized

Dear Martin,

First of all I would like to heartily congratulate you on your decision about embracing Christianity and getting baptized. It is an important moment in your life and that too of joy and a new beginning. I feel proud and happy for you and would like to happily be your sponsor to the ceremony.

You are a wonderful person and I am proud to have a nephew like you. I had always dreamt of this day when you will make us all proud by accepting God and entrusting yourself to him. You have always done the right thing and have encouraged others also to do right. I remember how, even as a kid, you never forgot to fold hands in prayer before your meal. I still admire your practice. Your father and mother are the most dedicated members of the church and we would expect the same level of dedication from you.

By becoming your sponsor, I take the vow of guiding you through each step of this process and from there on in the future also. I once again would like to mention that this is a very important decision, the one that will change your life and make you an even better person. I am confident that as a responsible member of the church you will spread the message of God to the others too and prove to be a true Christian.

Saying this I would like to congratulate your entire family. Looking forward to meet you in the church.

Yours Sincerely
(Signature)
