Colleagues Farewell Letter

You may want to say goodbye and thank you to your colleagues before resigning or retiring from the company. You can also write co-worker farewell letters to your colleagues, if they are leaving the organization, to thank them for their contribution and convey your best wishes for their future. The purpose of the letter is to enlighten your colleagues regarding your last day in the organization, reason for leaving the company and provide your contact details to keep in touch with them. By saying farewell and thanking your colleagues for their support and contribution at work, you leave the company on a positive note.

There are a few points to be remembered though while preparing your colleagues farewell letter. You must keep your letter formal and concise while taking care not to get too personal. If you are leaving the company due to dissatisfaction or disappointment with your job, it is childish to mention your true reason for leaving the organization. So, even in these cases, you must restrain from writing your heart out, rather keep it professional and thank your colleagues for their support as always.

If you choose to leave the organization because you found a better opportunity outside the organization, mention the name of that organization along with your designation or position within that company and the date of joining. Make sure you do not elaborate on this for it might seem as if you are bragging about it.

You may address your farewell letter to a specific person within the organization, may be your sub-ordinate or colleague or your senior or you may as well choose to write a common letter for your team.

If you are writing a farewell letter to your co-workers because they are leaving the company, make sure you include your contact information in the letter and wish them good luck for their career in future.

Hello everyone,

This is to let you all know that today is my last working day at Old Edwards Inn (name of the current organization). I am travelling to Hungary next month to pursue my interest in music as my career. I got the opportunity to work as a Sound Engineer for CLS Music starting from December 10th 2011.

I would like to use this opportunity to thank you all for your support and assistance in making me a worthy resource for the organization. It has been a pleasure working with you all for the past 4 years. I must admit that it was an exciting and enjoyable environment to work in and I will definitely miss being a part of this team.
