Fundraising solicitation letters are quite essential for fundraising organizations since the effect of a solicited letter is far more than a simple unsolicited charity/fundraising letter. A fundraising letter can be solicited by approaching a legal authority like a lawyer or a solicitor or a higher authoritative government body in order to write or compose a fundraising letter on behalf of the fundraising organization. Charity letters or fundraising letters when written by an employee from within the organization are usually deemed as unsolicited letters unless the employee writing the letter is a solicitor by profession, appointed by the organization itself for that purpose.

The significance of fundraising letters to be solicited

Soliciting has not always been easy for non-profitable charity/fundraising organizations when taken into consideration the fact that money has been valued and worshipped more throughout a nation's economy nowadays resulting in a significant decrease in the number of charitable organizations due to which merchants as well as individuals are becoming uninterested in contributing to their society's well being. We don't need to think too much in order to realize that businesses around the world are becoming less generous and less familiar with their donations or charity day by day. Considering the above fact, it is important for a fundraising organization to solicit their business so as to approach the merchants for donations effectively.

Important points to keep in mind while writing a fundraising solicitation letter

  • Keep your letter to one-page strictly for we all know that merchants are usually too busy with their businesses and will not bother to spend time reading your letter if they find it to be lengthy in the first place

  • Keep your letter straight and simple. You need to wrap up your conversation as quickly as possible so as to avoid putting your reader off ultimately causing him to ignore the fundraising request

  • Always use your organization's letterhead that consists of your company logo and your contact details to make it look very professional thereby being successful in creating a great impression of your organization

  • Outline essential facts about your organization before you begin with a brief description of your cause. Be sure to include details including facts and figures of your previous causes and fundraising events

  • Do not forget to mention that their donation will be totally tax deductible. There is nothing wrong in including your tax id as well, along with that information

  • Explain the fundraising event to the reader effectively and mention details of the venue where the event will be conducted without fail

  • If you have anything to offer to the donor, make sure you mention how the reader will be benefited by contributing to your cause

  • If the addressee has donated to your organization or cause in the past, do not forget to start your letter by thanking the reader for his generous contribution that helped your cause to be carried out effectively

  • And finally, thank the reader in advance and proofread your letter a few times in order to eliminate any errors in writing

Dear Ms. Quintero,

I'm writing on behalf of Institute of the Conscience to put forth a request for your contribution in raising funds for our cause - A Spiritual Nation, A United Brotherhood. Our organization has been committed to the well being of the society by promoting spirituality worldwide since September 2009.

As we all know, the true nature of humanity is on the verge of extinction due to the increasing need for survival in this hostile environment where money is being valued more than the need to stick together as one brotherhood. We are focused on rebuilding the nation in a manner so that all of us understand the significance of Spirituality in an individual's life that would result in everyone in the society assisting each other to create a perfect harmony. Our aim is to spread awareness of the Eclipse of the Conscience that has driven the nation, the world to a point where hatred, corruption and war is what are being seen and telecast everywhere.

Everyone is free to participate in our event which is to be held on January 7th and 8th, 2012. The event will consist of a detailed presentation on the importance of realization of the Cosmic Consciousness which has been long forgotten and have been deemed as an unnecessary knowledge due to the growing pace of survival. This presentation will be followed by a lecture by Mr. Philip Charles Lucas from the University Press of Florida who will talk about the real goal of human life and the path of Grace through which one can attain the true human nature and thus reach God by contemplation. Attached herewith, you will find the event schedule that would give you a clear idea of what the event will consist of.

We hereby request you to donate an amount ranging from $2500 - $5000 which would be used to pay the rental charges for the equipments that will be used throughout the event. I would also like to inform you that your donation will be 100% tax deductible and the amount donated is not subject to a refund in any case.

If you wish to contact us for more details or if you wish to discuss the means of payment, please feel free to call us at 615-534-2592

I would like to thank you in advance for your interest and co-operation in making this cause a success.

Sincerely yours,

Larry F. Branch - Solicitor
