A leave letter is written when you need leave for some purpose. Everyone working somewhere would require leaves, whether short or long, for some or the other reasons. A leave letter is generally written to an HR Manager or a Team Manager, under whom you are working. A leave application for 1 to 3 days is written to the Team Manager, whereas a long leaves application is written to the HR Manager along with a copy to the Team Manager. When a Manager needs leave then he/she has to write a leave application to his/her reporting manager or to the HR Manager directly. A Manager Leave Letter should always be formal. In your leave letter, mention the reason clearly, whether it is for short or long leaves. The reason mentioned should be genuine, so that you get your leave/s granted by your boss or the HR Manager. Also, mention both the dates 'from' and 'up to' in your leave application.

Manager Leave Letter Sample 1
Date: 23rd February, 2010
SUB: REGARDING LEAVE
Dear Mr. Phillips,
I am writing this letter to bring to your kind notice that I need a leave of 2 days as my parents are visiting me.
My dad has to go through an eye operation. I have spoken to the doctor and the operation is scheduled on 25th of February. I need to be there with my parents at the time of the operation. So, I need two days leave on 25th February, 2011 and 26th February, 2011. As being the only son, it becomes my responsibility to take care of them.
I have spoken to Mr. George, and he will be looking into the project for these two days, in my absence. Hope you will consider the matter as serious, and will reply back positively. I would like to hear from you soon.
Manager Leave Letter Sample 2
Date: 11th October, 2010
Dear Mr. Robert,
SUB: REGARDING LEAVE
This is to inform you that I would require a leave for 10 working days. I will not be able to come to office from 18th October, 2011 to 28th October, 2011 because I am going to my native town.
There is a marriage ceremony of my brother and I need to present there. Since we are a small family, there is a lot of burden on my shoulders with lots of preparations to be done in a short time. I am the elder brother, and I have some responsibilities towards my family that needs to be fulfilled.
So, please grant me leave, so that I could be there in time. I have spoken to Mr. Paul Lewis regarding the project on which I am currently working. He told me that he will take care of the project until I come back. Further, I will be available on phone for any queries regarding the job.
Hope to hear from you soon.
