It is a good practice to mention the name of the employer, and use it this way - "Dear (Name of the employer)". Contact Details:This is also an important section of a cover letter. Mention all your contact details correctly in your cover letter, such as complete postal address, contact number and email id. Avoid use of "I" too often:Using "I" too often is a bad practice. Your language seems to be monotonous and it creates a bad impression on an employer. Here, you may lose an interview call if you commit such mistakes in your cover letter. So, use "I" only if necessary.
Length of a Cover Letter:Your cover letter should be short and precise. It should not be long and boring, because an employer would not have much time to go through you lengthy cover letter. You should try to summarize your cover letter in just three paragraphs, but in some cases, you can exceed up to a maximum of five paragraphs.

Same Font as the Cover Letter:The font of your cover letter also plays a crucial role in your job search. It is recommended that you should keep the same font in your resume as well as your cover letter.
Go through Employer's Website:Here, refer the employer's website and try to know about their job. You should have a clear idea about the field in which the company operates. Do mention one or two lines stating how your skills match with the requirement of the company.
